Health & Safety Disclaimer — Kairos
Last updated: July 7, 2026
This disclaimer is part of the Kairos Terms of Service. Please read it: it describes the limits of what the app can do and the responsibility that stays with you.
Read this first
Kairos suggests times to be outside based on forecasts and your preferences. It is a convenience tool for planning, not a safety device, not a professional advisor, and not a source of guaranteed information. Every decision to go outside, and to start, continue, or stop any activity, is yours. When in doubt, don’t go — or turn back.
Not medical advice
Kairos does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and is not a substitute for professional judgment. Its suggestions to be active outdoors are general lifestyle information, not a prescription tailored to your health.
Consult a physician before beginning or significantly changing any exercise or outdoor-activity routine, especially if you are pregnant, older, have a heart, lung, or other medical condition, take medication, or have any reason to think activity may be unsafe for you. If you feel pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, or other warning signs during an activity, stop and seek medical help. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
The data can be wrong, late, or missing
The app’s suggestions are automated estimates built from third-party forecasts — including Apple Weather (WeatherKit), NOAA / NOS CO-OPS tide predictions, and Open-Meteo air-quality and marine data. Forecasts are inherently uncertain and these services can be inaccurate, delayed, incomplete, or unavailable. Conditions outdoors can change quickly and differ from any forecast, and can vary a lot over short distances and short times.
Do not rely on the app as your only source. Before you go, check current official sources for where you’ll be, and use your own eyes and judgment once you’re there.
Water, surf, and the coast — extra caution
The ocean is dangerous and unforgiving. Kairos’s surf, tide, and beach information is for general planning only and must never be used as a water- or beach-safety authority. Waves, currents, rip currents, tides, and shorebreak can injure or kill even in conditions that look mild.
- Heed lifeguards, posted signs, flags, and official Beach Hazard Statements and marine warnings — they override anything the app shows.
- Know your own limits, never surf or swim alone in unfamiliar or hazardous conditions, and be especially careful around tides, rocks, and remote breaks.
- Tide predictions are estimates and do not account for storms, surge, or local effects.
Weather and severe conditions
Kairos is not an emergency, weather-warning, or safety-of-life service. It may not reflect fast-changing or severe weather. For warnings and alerts, rely on official sources such as the National Weather Service and local authorities, and follow their guidance over anything in the app.
Sun, UV, air quality, and eye safety
- Air-quality and UV information is general and may lag real conditions; if you are sensitive, follow medical guidance and official air-quality advisories.
- Never look directly at the sun. Any sun, sunrise/sunset, or eclipse information in the app is for timing and interest only — viewing the sun or a solar eclipse without proper certified eye protection can cause permanent eye damage. Follow established solar-viewing safety guidance.
You bring the judgment
The app does not know your fitness, experience, equipment, the specific terrain, trail or water conditions, wildlife, crowding, lighting, or how remote or reachable a place is. Assess these yourself, prepare appropriately, tell someone where you’re going, and choose activities and locations within your ability.
Assumption of risk
Outdoor activities carry inherent risks of injury, illness, property loss, or death. By using Kairos and choosing to undertake any activity, you knowingly and voluntarily accept full responsibility for those risks. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release the developer from liability for any harm arising from your use of the app or the activities you choose to do, as further described in the Terms of Service.
